Vin Diesel has been cast in a third movie in his Riddick franchise.
According to Variety, the film is to be directed by David Twohy, who made the previous two instalments Pitch Black and The Chronicles Of Riddick, from a script he wrote.
Details on the storyline have not been revealed, however the movie is thought to be more in line with Pitch Black than its bigger budgeted sequel.
Ivan Reitman is rumoured to be working on Ghostbusters 3 in 3D.
The third Ghostbusters film is to arrive in theaters "with the added benefit of stereoscopic 3D". Stereoscopic cameras record an image to give it the illusion of depth, reports Marketsaw.
Reitman also said that the film's script has been completed and a second draft is currently in the works.
Avatar has become the fastest movie ever to achieve one billion dollar mark in ticket sales around the world.
According to 20th Century Fox, the film has earned more than 350m dollars in the US and more than 670m in the rest of the world in only 17 days.
These latest figures make Avatar already the fourth-biggest film ever made - after Titanic (1.8bn), The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King (1.12bn) and Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest (1.07bn).
Apparently, projections suggest Avatar will eventually take the #2 spot on the all time worldwide box office chart, next to Titanic - another Cameron movie.
Alien director Ridley Scott has talked more about the proposed prequel movie he'll be directing, and it's not what you expect.
No, it won't deal with the backstory to that giant alien ship on LV-426 that the crew of the Nostromo discovers in Scott's 1979 original movie. Rather, it'll be something new, Scott told Empire magazine:
"It's a brand new box of tricks," said Sir Ridley. "We know what the road map is, and the screenplay is now being put on paper. The prequel will be a while ago. It's very difficult to put a year on Alien, but [for example] if Alien was towards the end of this century, then the prequel story will take place thirty years prior."
The script, by Jon Spaihts, will center on humans in some way. Not really clear how it'll fit into the series' mythology, but we're sure it'll be something.
"I never thought I'd look forward to a sequel," said Sir Ridley. "But a prequel is kind of interesting. I'm looking forward to doing that."
Entourage star Rhys Coiro will lead the cast of the 30 Days of Night sequel.
Picking up after the events of the David Slade-directed pic, the 'direct-to-video' sequel 30 Days of Night : Dark Days sees Stella, who after nearly a year of struggling to expose the truth, decides to join a group of rogue vampire hunters to seek revenge on Lilith, the powerful vampire responsible for the attack on her Alaskan town.
Mia Kirshner (The Crow : City of Angels) plays the lead vampire villain "Lilith". Harold Perrineau (Lost), Kiele Sanchez (A Perfect Getaway), Diora Baird (Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The Beginning) and stunt-woman Monique Ganderton will also star in the Ben Ketai directed feature.
The move will be a direct adaptation of the second graphic novel in the series. In my opinion they should go all out for a cinema release - people would definitely go see this!!
David Cronenberg is preparing a remake of his own 1986 cult classic film The Fly.
Based upon the excellent 1958 sci-fi classic by Kurt Neumann, Cronenberg remade The Fly with Jeff Goldblum in the lead as Seth Brundle, an eccentric scientist who, after an experiment with teleportation goes awry, is transformed into a fly.
The original movie made Fox million and spawned a 1989 sequel and an opera staged in Paris and Los Angeles.
Personally, I don't think this is necessary at all. The 1988 movie is still an outstanding remake, even by today's standards. Are hollywood that short of scripts?
George Romero horror classic Night Of The Living Dead is being remade an anime-inspired 3D CGI film.

Holy frack! Bryan Singer is in talks to direct an upcoming Battlestar Galactica movie!
The X-Men helmer is being courted for the new big screen take on Glen A. Larson's science fiction property.
Universal announced in February that is was pursuing a new movie spearheaded by Larson. The project is NOT related to the recent TV series, which has a spinoff show Caprica ready to launch next year (I've seen the pilot, it's awesome).
Singer was previously involved in an aborted Galactica TV series back in 2001 but the big budget pilot was axed amid rising costs and concerns about the story.
One of the most eagerly anticipated comic book/animation/toy franchise to movie adaptations, G.I. Joe, is released next week.
The movie website has been given one of those flashy, interactive experiences - and it's worth checking out. I really like the "character dossier" feature - which also offers up really cool wallpapers and IM icons.
However, a similar site for Peter Jackson's new District 9 movie blows it away in terms of scope. Tip - choose to be an alien rather than human for a enjoyable tour
