Call Of Duty Server
The following is information about the altFIRE Dedicated Call Of Duty Server.

- Introduction
- Server Details
- Getting and installing Call Of Duty
- Connecting to the server
- Screenshots

Introduction

Call of Duty is a first-person shooter video game based on the Quake 3 engine. This war game simulates the infantry and combined arms warfare of World War II. The game was published by Activision and developed by Infinity Ward.

Since November 12, 2007, the game and its sequels have been available for purchase via Valve's content delivery platform, Steam.

Call of Duty is similar in theme and gameplay to Medal of Honor: Allied Assault, and like the latter includes various single player campaigns and missions. However, unlike Medal of Honor, the war is seen not just from the viewpoint of an American soldier but also from the viewpoint of British and Soviet soldiers.

Server Details

Our game server is a 64 bit AMD box with 4 GB of RAM running 64 bit Debian Linux. One of the many games we run on this powerful server is Call Of Duty.

The altFIRE Call Of Duty server runs a default map cycle in sequential rotation. The max players is set to 12. Maps run with a timelimit of 15 minutes and a fraglimit of 25. When either is reached, the next map will load.

The server is password protected, so only registered altFIRE members can play.

Getting and installing Call Of Duty

You obviously will need a copy of Call Of Duty to connect to the server and play. If using Windows, just buy a copy and install. After installation, update to version 1.5, if required (this is very important).

If you are using Linux, simply use the linux client installer (right-click and save) and copy the required files from either the game CD or from another machine (or partition) with Call Of Duty installed. Unlike all our other games (which run natively on a Linux client), you will need Wine installed to execute the Call Of Duty game binaries. See here for details.

Connecting to the server

As long as your version of Call Of Duty is up to date, connecting to the server is simple. To connect to the server, do the following:

1) Start Call Of Duty
2) Drop the command console using the ' key (usually beside number key 1)
3) Type the following to set your password the same as the server:

/password password

The "/" is important. The password is not actually "password", of course. The real password is sent to you when you register.

4) Type the following to initiate the connection:

/connect cod.altfire.com

Enjoy!
